Ask, then check
Pressure and pace are yours to set.
Because they have been told that looking after themselves is self-indulgent.
Almost everyone who comes in for the first time explains why they have left it so long, as though an hour of rest requires justification. It does not. Bodies that sit, lift and carry need maintenance in the same unremarkable way a vehicle does.
That also means being honest about what an hour can do. Tension eases, sleep often improves, and people leave moving more freely. Persistent pain, numbness or anything that has been getting worse needs a physician, and saying so costs us a booking and is still the right answer.
The rest is just doing the basics properly: ask what someone wants, check the pressure, stop assuming, and teach something they can use on their own at eleven at night.
Pressure and pace are yours to set.
Beginners and stiff bodies are normal.
